WORKING VISAS

Temporary Sponsored Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457)

The 457 visa (Temporary Business Long Stay) is a temporary work visa that allows employers to sponsor and nominate overseas nationals to fill skilled vacancies within their workplace. Employers must meet specific sponsorship and nomination criteria before the prospective employee can apply for a 457 visa and both the employer and visa applicant must meet DIBP’s relevant criteria for approval of this visa.
This visa is able to be granted inside or outside of Australia and is used both by persons seeking short term skilled roles in Australia and individuals who transition from this visa to permanent residence.
On visa grant this is a provisional residence visa valid for up to four years and provides a pathway to permanent residence either through sponsorship by an eligible employer or the skilled migration program. . Working Holiday Visa / Work and Holiday Visa

Australia has agreements with a range of countries to offer long term visas (1 year with an ability to seek to extend to 2 years) to young single holiday makers from certain countries to travel to Australia and combine work with their holiday.
Whereas visitor visas are generally issued with a no work condition, these visas enable the visa holder to engage in work.
